NYCWP Voices

An unofficial social network for teachers in the New York City Writing Project

It's been a wild ride these past few weeks, with much to do. We were supposed to leave on a brief vacation this week, but circumstances seem to be telling us that that may not be possible, or will perhaps have to be truncated and/or postponed. But nothing is all bad, and mostly it's all good.

I've taken great pleasure in taking more time to look through all of our work together this summer. This little post is mostly to let you know that I'm thinking about all of you, and wondering how you are, where you are, and how you're progressing.

In addition to dealing with all kinds of stress since we've last been together, I've made a lot of jam this summer, all low-sugar versions. Most recent was this week's batch of 21 jars of apricot preserve and 14 jars of apricot curd, a great variation on lemon curd. I've also got sour cherry preserves and raspberry-currant preserves, and I'm contemplating blackberry and plum, as well as maybe some more raspberry. Let me know if you want some jam.

Hi Julie! xoxo
I'm so sorry that you might not be able to travel as planned because you really deserve it due to all of the stresses that you have faced. My gosh!! That's a whole lot of jam! LOL. I've thought of all of you also and I just wanted to tell you that it was such a pleasure to meet you this summer and I'm so sorry that I couldn't meet with all of you on the last day of our wonderful workshop. You and Paul make a great team.
