My Tumblr Exhibit explores the question: How can I best use social networking tools to accomplish my personal and professional goals? With that question in mind, this portfolio moves from my general musings on the impact I feel social networking can have on my relationship with my fellow school community members (Text, Video); to what resources I used to gain more information on how social networking--particularly Nings--can help create a viable learning community (Link, Chat); to more in-depth representations of how I envision Nings will transform the way me and my school community members interact with one another, what benefits that can have on learning, and what types of features can best promote this positive interactivity (photo, audio, and quote). Ultimate Effects of Social Networking
This exhibit is merely a starting point, sort of a bigger picture view, of my wonderings about social networks. But, by starting with this reflective stance that takes a step back and examines in a more general sense why I think a social network will improve both my personal and professional life, I feel as though I have a much stronger personal investment in this project and I feel motivated, prepared, and confident to start developing my social networks. By engaging in the five modalities this project required, I also feel I have a much better idea of the ways to ensure my network is as inviting and useful as possible. And, I have an arsenal of resources at my disposal to support my network development all along the way.
So, if you have ever wondered what social networks can do for your school and life, take a look at my Tumblr Exhibit. I hope you enjoy the tour!
