NYCWP Voices

An unofficial social network for teachers in the New York City Writing Project

I experienced the facinating power of "loop" today. I wonder if I can discover the invisible bondage on me otherwise. As I shared in the group what I was reminded of the impact of learning Chinese brush painting, I was excited and that seems to lead me to see what behind the curtain. How great impact a culture can be on our perspectives, way of thinking, and value system! I don't think my Chinese painting teacher was ever conscious about how he shaped my mind and behavior. And how that effect would influence my learning style and pattern. As we are learning new tools to do research, I am swamped not only by them, but also trying to find something so that I can do "meaningful" research. With a new discovery of the bondage on me, I am more confident that I will enjoy this research experience.
