NYCWP Voices

An unofficial social network for teachers in the New York City Writing Project

I am here to see the resources I can use in the classroom. I will pick and choose what I think will work best for my classes. I am not so concerned on presenting it anybody I work with. Of course, I will share with those who are interested. I don't think we need to be experts. My past experience working with the internet and computers in the classroom it is experimental. The kids will find new ways to use things. You just share the basics, the shell and they will go with it. That is the same with your co-workers. Boy am I glad that I work at school based on consensus and do not have to go through hoops to get things done. I think I am more motivated than ever to go on donors choose to get more moeny for technology in the classroom. My goal is to have technology on the overhead everyday of class and if not we are int he computer room

The two things I want to learn how to do before we leave is googlemapping a labeling places on maps so I can do that on projects and wikispaces. I signed up, but I want to learn a little more.

Google reader yesterday I was fine and I think it was good people were confused it helps with the learning process and seeing how different technology is used. Being a history and economics teacher i think it was helpful. I would also like to learn different research tools since I do not have a school library. Is there better ways to find research on the computer than google searches and wikipedia.

Teachers without a doubt

In some way you're fortunate because I don't have a class of my own except Family Group so it would only make sense to present some of what I learned to staff so that they can use it in their classes if they like. I don't know what's worse...teaching it to a group of teachers or a group of students...what do you think?
