I see that you are off and running with the NYCWP. I'm excited to see how you will bring these new tools to your humanities classroom. I tried to see your hypertextopia but somehow can't access it. Will try again.

I agree with you--I'm spoiled too! I live in Brooklyn, which often makes me feel as though I'm far out, but that is nothing compared to coming up here. But, I also agree with you that it is worth it--I have not been on a college campus like this in years either and it feels exhilarating to be in an academic as well as natural environment. It makes me feel as though I've left the city far behind. But, thank goodness, even way up here we still have Starbucks!

Becoming Conscious Through the Arts

Hi Everyone,

I'm not completely finished with my multimedia project. I would have like to add pictures at the beginning but I didn't have the thought until the last minute...So, the beginning is quite text heavy and perhaps dense.

The project is in hypertextopia because it was easier for me to collect the info there than on tumblr. However, the link to tContinue

Loopy

The looping process was really beneficial. Like many others, I'm accustomed to writing when inspired. This tired morning, from 6:30-9:30am, I felt very little inspiration and motivation to write. As Julie C touched upon, the process we went through today pushed me to go beyond the "necessary" inspiration. I had to be creative and to an extent, I was. However, I'm still not very comfortable with google reader...I think I need to practice using it more.

Tuesday 6.15.08

I was able to get some necessary reading done on the train and learned more about web based projects. The authors suggest interdisciplinary collaboration to make the most of web 2.0 technologies. At my school, this seems to take a back seat despite the formation of grade teams which are alligned with the collaborative design model. Perhaps if I set up a wiki for the grade team, we will be more likely to talk about our curricula. My morning reading also gave me a great definition for literacy whi… Continue

RSS

I'm a little confused right now. Google Reader is overwhelming and I'm not sure how I can put information on tumblr from google reader. What exactly does RSS stand for and what is it's function? I don't know if I want all of the information I am interested in. I won't have time in a week to read everything that comes to me in a day...I guess I understand the use of google reader. When I'm looking for an article on a certain topic the day before a lesson, I'll find a useful one easily. My brain i… Continue

Changes to my curriculum

I would like to use technology as a way to conduct research, engage the students, create an intellectual community, build on ideas, and take action. Access to computers seems to be the biggest practical and mental barrier at this point. There are ways to use the computers in our building but many of them are no longer reliable, making me feel like my ideas won't come to fruition. However, motivation to find working computers has been inspired by the textbook we've been studying in this class, wh… Continue
